Great Advice
A great gardening resource for those attempting to garden in the “Chinook” zone is a book by the Millarville Horticultural Club, called “Gardening Under the Arch”. It advertises itself as being “Homespun hints and money-saving tips from the rigorous high country of Alberta’s Chinook Zone”. Jackie says this book has basically become her gardening “bible”, and is very useful. For a copy of it and other Alberta Agriculture horticultural publications people can contact 1-800-292-5697.

The Best Drought-Tolerant Perennials
From the Better Homes & Gardens weekly update that for some reason they decided I need. They have some good features now and then and this one caught my eye. The attached file contains some of their recommendations – left out some of the Zone 5 and higher, kept in the ones I have grown or seen here. Watch out where you put the Yarrow and Lambs Ears they will take over the garden if you let them…might add some color to our back yards though
Plants for Clay Soil
Some of us are blessed with heavy clay soil that makes landscaping and gardening a challenge. Found some lists online and wanted to share.
